The divorce laws have changed today in England and Wales. I’ve noticed that people who have strong opinions about divorce and remarriage often haven’t been divorced. These life experiences usually bring better understanding and deeper compassion. Dogma can cause hurt. Been there, done that, got the T-shirt. Be kind.
Whatever your views about the Queen and Andrew, I think there’s too much analysis and criticism. It was a family memorial service, he supported his mother via a side entrance, and left the others to do all the public stuff (including walking down the aisle). We’re not ignoring his past actions, but we can show some humanity and respect for the Queen.
For ALL previous Prime Ministers, multiple law breaking in 10 Downing Street and lying about it to Parliament, would be a resignation issue. What’s changed?
Chris Rock verbally assaulted Jada Pinkett Smith. Will Smith physically assaulted Chris Rock. Both assaults are unjustified and unacceptable. Both go to the heart of our human nature. We all have the tendency to act inappropriately. Equally, we can all make the choice to be kind. Let’s learn from both assaults and move on.
Vladimir Putin isn’t at war with Ukraine. He’s at war with aspiration, creativity, democracy, freedom, and individual choice. He’s at war with any ideology that’s contrary to his own narrow and rigid dogma. He’s at war with all of us. Western democracy might be flawed, but it’s the best we have. He’s a global control freak seeking world domination. We are all Ukrainians. Love and peace, John.
Why are some people unable to accept the evidence of their own eyes that Boris Johnson is a habitual liar? This is not something I’ve considered about any previous Prime Minister, although there may have been one-off instances.
Here’s a perfect example of contrived government mental gymnastics: “We shouldn’t say the country is uncaring, it’s unpatriotic.” NO, people are NOT saying the county is uncaring, they’re saying the Tory government is uncaring. It’s common for people to accuse others of their own faults. Integrity matters.
It seems to me that Putin is like a spurned lover. He’s been rejected by the love of his life. Because he can’t have her, no one else can either. He’s going to destroy her.
The problem with the UK refugee system is that it’s designed (especially since Brexit) to keep people out. Its whole basis is hostile and negative, when it should be compassionate and positive. These used to be British values, but we’ve become harsh and insular.
Why is dirty money allowed in English football? Why are individuals from countries with questionable human rights allowed to buy football clubs? Why is the World Cup being held in Qatar? Where is the integrity? Where are the British values? Oh, and thank you for my luxury yacht! Ooops!
